It’s winter. I don’t know what that means for you, but here in Pittsburgh it means at least six months of cold, dreary weather and an overload of gray. And cold. And freezing temperatures. Did I mention cold?
Maybe I was subconsciously trying to avoid seasonal depression when I decided to give our powder room a bright and sunny makeover. Maybe I’m just a teensy bit obsessed with yellow lately. Whatever the reason, I now can’t help but smile every time I enter our cheerful little bathroom, and that makes me happy.
You may remember from my bathroom inspiration post that our little powder room used to resemble a snowy winter day–WHITE.

No wonder I was getting depressed. After a little bit of paint and some fun accessories, though, I am thrilled to say that we now have this:

Oh, happy day! So much brighter and more fun. Since this bathroom is teeny and difficult to photograph, indulge me a little bit while I flood the rest of this post with pictures of all the tiny details.
I think the vanity wins the award for biggest transformation. It went from uber cheap-looking to sleek and chic with the help of some paint and new hardware.

We had originally planned to buy a new light fixture but couldn’t find one that jumped out at us. We ended up just painting the old fixture and swapping out the domes, and I love the result. Yay for saving money too!

The mirror also got a new coat of paint, going from tacky gold to a clean, crisp white.

I had two old frames that had neat details, but I wasn’t crazy about their colors.

They gained new life with a fresh coat of paint and some white matting. I used the first one to hold the monogram print from yesterday’s tutorial.

I had been seeing the same combination of white frame, white mat, and black and white photograph all over Pinterest, so I decided to try it myself with this picture of my grandmother and her high school cheerleading squad. This picture is special to me because I never got to meet my grandma, and cheerleading was something we had in common {ages ago}. I love that she is part of me even though she passed long before I was born.

My inspiration post included plans for a decorative shelf, but once we hung the pictures, it just seemed like too much. We used the back of the commode as our shelf to bring in some more fun elements instead. Who doesn’t love a gorgeous candle?

And I couldn’t resist just one more teeny tiny monogram…

And, finally, these gorgeous towels from Tar-jay complete the room!

If you’re still reading, congratulations! You made it to the end! I had so much fun putting this room together and hope you enjoyed your “tour.” We have more projects in the works around the Lawson abode, so I hope you’ll come back and check those out too!
